Dubstep heavy-hitters, HavocNdeeD, released their newest mixtape last week, “Friendly Fire”. Just over an hour of bass for your face to get you fighting things/people! These guys are consistently killing everything they touch and only a week ago they sent me their HUGE remix of NWA’s Dopeman (download it here). These guys are doing BIG things with upcoming performance dates in New Zealand, Las Vegas, and San Francisco just to name a few. Go visit/follow HavocNdeeD on Twitter, Facebook & Myspace to stay in the loop with some incredibly talented and prolific artists.
Besides their productions, you can hear the DJ skills of HavocNdeeD’s, JPaul and OB-One at their weekly party UK Thursday @ The Cherry Lounge in Tempe, AZ. This month’s special guests Camo UFOs, The production duo of LA’s Nate Day & DJ renaissance man Thee Mike B on March 11th. If you don’t know… BETTER ASK SOMEBODY!
I first made this track for Silver Medallion 2 YEARS AGO (!) and was the first remix i ever did… and it sounded like SHIT! It was about 5 minutes long with terrible audio quality and a track i would have never played for an audience. I later took it to DJ JPaul of Havoc n’ Deed to beef it up with some mastering and while doing that, he also stripped it down to the basics. This one remix and 2 years of learning has taught me the following lessons: “less is more” and mastering is essential. To show the difference between the beginning and end product, Im including both here so you can hear the world of difference…
Havoc N’ Deed is killing it right now! The production duo consisting of DJ’s JPaul and OB-One are getting prolific in their releases and are always consistent with song quality. The Phoenix/Vegas production team has already released a Beatport single on Reid Speed‘s Play Me Records featuring the amazing tracks “Bass 4 Ya Face” and “Vindicta” which have been playlisted by everyone from Z-trip to Kissy Sell Out. Beefy, bassy and monsterous dubstep is what you can expect whenever you see these guy’s names on the track.
The other day they sent me their newest bootleg/remix of the wast coast classic, NWA’s “Dopeman” and its too good to keep to myself.
Driving home a few months ago, i tuned into one of the local latin radio stations and heard my friend DJ Rocko playing the most amazing song that i didnt understand and had never heard before. It was in spanish (so i had no idea what they were saying) but it had all my favorite qualities: air-raid sires, fat distorted bass lines, and some dude yelling from what sounds like a megaphone. With some quick questioning/harassing, I got Rocko to email me a copy of the track in question, “Cafe Con Leche” by El Presidente. I quickly started working on a remix and the day after i finished, my studio computer died! Thanks to the loving touch of DJ and Mac Genius, BC/AD, i got the computer and the remix back weeks later, had it mastered by DJ JPaul, and am now sharing it with you fine people. Latin house meets Baltimore club…
