“LET IT BAILE!” – The Beatles vs. Joao Brasil

February 25th, 2010 by EPIDEMIC

Holy Gawd! Joao Brazil just don’t stop…

At the beginning of the January i did a post on the Silver Medallion blog, Get Your Swag Up, announcing Joao Brasil‘s monster project, 365 Mash-Ups, in which he creates one mash-up every single day for the entire year of 2010! Now, almost 3 months into the project, he has mashed the entire Beatles album, “Let it Be” with latin and baile funk beats underneath.  THIS SHIT IS BONKERS! The album artwork is pretty over the top too, just like most of Joao Brasil’s music.

Don’t sleep on this impressive project… Follow the links below to download the entire album and go visit Mr. Brasil at his blog, 365 Mash-Ups, to get new tracks every single day for the rest of this year.

Havoc N’ Deed – DopemaN Remix

February 24th, 2010 by EPIDEMIC

Havoc N’ Deed is killing it right now! The production duo consisting of DJ’s JPaul and OB-One are getting prolific in their releases and are always consistent with song quality.  The Phoenix/Vegas production team has already released a Beatport single on Reid Speed‘s Play Me Records featuring the amazing tracks “Bass 4 Ya Face” and “Vindicta” which have been playlisted by everyone from Z-trip to Kissy Sell Out.  Beefy, bassy and monsterous dubstep is what you can expect whenever you see these guy’s names on the track.

The other day they sent me their newest bootleg/remix of the wast coast classic, NWA’s “Dopeman” and its too good to keep to myself.

NWA – DopemaN (Havoc N’ Deed Remix) (145-90-180 BPM)

@Fashen will Blow Your Head

February 22nd, 2010 by EPIDEMIC

I was on Fashen’s blog a few weeks ago and saw a curious post and Youtube video about a track he produced called “One”.  I couldn’t find it anywhere online so i figured i might get it form our mutual friend,  graphic guy, and DJ cohort Bigie AKA Meanmugg.  He did have it, and was kind enough to send it to me… so now im sharing it with you! It got me thinking of how amazing the original sample is and how its been used by so many people over the years from Diplo and Fashen currently to Public Enemy and De La Soul in the past. Keep the tradition alive by downloading all three and make your own mega-mix!

Fred Wesley & The JB’s – Blow Your Head

Public Enemy – Public Enemy No. 1

Fashen – One

In doing some Youtube research for the post, i also found this video below, which is now the highlight of my day… if you’re an H.P. Lovecraft or Eli Escobar fan, Holla!

HeartBreaks “The Long Goodbye” Mix + Civic Space Jam (Downtown Phoenix)

February 21st, 2010 by EPIDEMIC

Good friend and fellow lover (not fighter), Anthony Hart A.K.A. HeartBreaks sent me his amazing hour long mix “The Long Goodbye” the other day… and it’s BUMPIN! Lots of broken beats, hip-hop remixes, spaced out vocal samples, and electronic love seemlessly mixed to create a hypnotic, soulful experience.  I have my suspicions as to who it was made for but i don’t care cuz im gonna steal it and give it to my girl, claiming it as my own! Just playing… kind of… but really, its that good!

HartBreaks – The Long Goodbye (Mixtape)

If you don’t know HeartBreaks, you get the chance to hang with him every Tuesday @ The Lost Leaf for Downtime, or one Sunday (TODAY!) a month for the free, all ages event, Civic Space Jam at Civic Space Park in downtown.

Also, the Phoenix New Times just named Mr. Hart the “Hipster King of Phoenix”… check out the article here.

I Would Die 4 U (MercuriusFM Remix)

February 18th, 2010 by EPIDEMIC

The newly launched CHROMEO blog posted an amazing, seven minute version of Prince practicing “Erotic City” in 1984.  It got me thinking about good friend and amazing producer, MERCURIUS FM.  He recently sent me  his recent remix of another timeless track off the Purple Rain soundtrack, “I Would Die 4 U”.

Prince – I Would Die 4 U (Mercurius FM Twenty 10 Remix)

Here’s a link to all the vintage Prince videos hosted on The Daily Swarm. They’re so raw but still sounds incredible! Dude is one of the best performers ever, hands down.  Makes me wish i was even a twinkle in my parents eye back in ’84 so i could have enjoyed this in person…
