Siouxsie & The Banshees – Citis In Dust (Epidemic Remix)

February 3rd, 2011 by EPIDEMIC

Made this remix a while back and recently re-discovered it so I thought of sharing it with you all for the new year! Originally the track was a simple sketch that had a lot of potential and it quickly became the foundation of a massive remix I did with dubstep duo, Havoc N’ Deed.  Now you have a beefed up “Baltimore meets baile” interpretation of a new wave classic that will leave any city in dust…

SPAM MUSUBI – A MEDITATION ON ABBAY “CARNEGIE” LATTIN

September 17th, 2010 by EPIDEMIC

Been thinking about Hawaii and all the experience’s Carnegie & I had there.

Spam is HUGE in Hawaii and we never ate it the first time we went…

…but the second time we discovered what we had been missing out on.

Silver Medallion – Mean Girls (Produced by Overwerk)

September 2nd, 2010 by EPIDEMIC

*

Silver Medallion is making a lot of moves these days.  After bouncing between label negotiations, traveling the world, and taking over New York City, these dudes still find time to record some BANGERS with great producers!  This one comes compliments of Overwerk – the production mind behind Canada’s The Girls Can Hear Us.  Dude is flying solo now and is making some some crazy music that mixes the danceable elements of house with the bass madness of dubstep, topped off with some hip-hop vocals to keep the party moving.  Check out the promo video below… it makes me want to travel to space, find the origins of man, and dance on the grave of god.

The XX vs. Baile Funk – “Baile X” by João Brasil

August 30th, 2010 by EPIDEMIC

It’s insane to think that Brazilian home-boy, João Brasil, has been turning out tunes for 9 months already in his daunting series: 365 MashUps. With only 1/4 of the year to go, he delivers this CRAZY album that’s both abrasive and abstract, but overflowing with creativity. With great album artwork by Hardcuore this is a pretty over the top concept, but definitely worth a mind-expanding listen.

Street Jams: Electric Funk Vol. 4

August 5th, 2010 by EPIDEMIC

FORGOT THAT I NEVER POSTED THE FINAL INSTALLMENT OF THIS SERIES!!! In my opinion, #4 this is the best disc in the collection.  There are a dozen classics ranging from the east coast roots of Freestlye (the genre and the group), across the pond to the Brittish electro-glam of ABC, back to the wet coast with L.A. Dream Team and the Egyptian Lover (on here twice as himself and Jaime Jupitor).  Along with the Dark Side of Disco compilation posted earlier, you’ve got enough computer music to rock any party back-to-the-future!

Pickster One – Where Brooklyn At? (All City DJ Tool)

July 27th, 2010 by EPIDEMIC

SUPER useful DJ tools for the working man! Ive been waiting to post this from Brooklyn as well, which makes this entry even more special.  The file below contains 15 different track versions shouting out cities all over the country, from Miami to San Francisco.

Big thanks to the homie, Pickster One for making these.  Check out his new website, www.picksterone.com, for TONS of useful cuts and upcoming events. Here’s what he had to say about making the tracks below…

“I grew up listening to West Coast & East Coast Hip-Hop. I’ve always been a fan of Biggie. He made so many club classics in such a short span of time , I’m convinced that you could drop a classic Biggie tune at any club night, in in city in the U.S., still today and it will go over fine, and the same for the next 10years. Which says alot considering he died 13 years ago. I’ve DJ’ed in many clubs in many cities all over the world, and have DJ homies that travel city to city all the time. So i’ve made a DJ Tool that you can use in different city’s utilizing the classic Biggie party break, ‘Where Brooklyn At?’ Flipping it up, ‘Where Phoenix At?’, ‘Where Vegas At?’, ‘Where Frisco at?’ etc. With a acapella loop at the end of the tune so you can mix into whatever you want after. (Dj Talk) haha Enjoy!”
