Oh snap kid! Compilation Monday continues w/ part 2 of the best series everrr! I don’t know why i spoil people with my musical secrets but cop them all before i become less giving.
I’m in the mood for dub! Much like the California Gurls Dub i did a few weeks ago, this is another pop track that is way more fun with out the vocals. The original instrumental is pretty hard to play, so i added a ton of percussion layers and beefed this baby up! Now you can throw acapellas over it, double it up, or just let it ride and get the party groovin’. Enjoy!!!
Been a long time coming but this HUGE track is finally available to the masses. Originally composed as a Baltimore-style dub of the classic Siouxsie hi, the dudes over @ HavocNdeeD saw greater potential to the song and together, we took it to the next level. Download it here in all its glory and then watch your dance floor get turned to dust when you drop this bassline monster.
The compilations are baaaaaack!!! This is my favorite series from 1994 – Street Jams: Electric Funk Vol. 1-4. There’s nothing like Rhino Records compilations to take you back in time. This four part series focuses on the 80′s sounds of early electro and b-boy anthems. Stay tuned every Monday for a new installment and put these classic jams to work!
Tonight @ Midnight marks the official start of summer and to celebrate, i ripped a copy of my favorite 7″ about this season of love. Found this gem at the now defunct PDQ Records in Tucson, AZ and have always kept it in the secret stash… but its gonna be on heavy rotation for the next 3 months. This is also the theme for our “Summer Sexy Party” this Saturday night. If you don’t know… you ain’t invited!
If you’ve been keeping up with these posts for the last 2 weeks, you’ll be excited to finally have the last installment in the Dark Side of Disco series. This one is my personal favorite because it contains some of the rarest 12″ mixes in the entire collection and really gets deep into that dark-sided groove. Look out next week for a special mix from yours truly, recapping the best moments in this series, and stay tuned for the next compilation set up on the chopping block, Street Jams: Electric Funk Vol. 1-4.
Thought this was gonna have a sample from the Armand Van Helden track by a similar name, but was not disappointed when it didn’t. Saw this gem over on the Baltimore Club Blog and now i can’t get it out of my head! Supposedly this is off the upcoming Rye Rye album, “Go Pop Bang” but we’ll see if that actually manifests.
