Two weeks party people!!! That’s when I’m gonna bring the batter and whip up some deliciousness @ Bar Smith for my birthday celebration! On Saturday, April 10th, My good friends at Solstice are giving me the downstairs bar all night to play the best hip-hop in Phoenix alongside residents DJ Element & DJ Mane-One. For a buttery little preview, i baked up this promo-mix for your enjoyment. 20 minutes of caked up goodness to whet your appetite and get you hungry. Dont spoil your appetite though, cuz this party will be a filler/killer on the dance floor!
OK… I think I’m out of food references now. Enjoy!

This track has been blowing up the internet lately and is pretty epic, but can be hard to work into your average club set. No worries though, I got you covered! This transition track utilizes the original Afrojack edit of “Moombah“, Dave Nada‘s slowed-down remix, and the “Ruff Cut” edit from the official T&A Records release of “Moombahton“. Use it, abuse it, and throw it in a bag! Ayeeeeeee!

This Sunday marks the fifth installment of Phoenix’s best and only “DJs in the Park” event, Civic Space Jam. Curated by HartBreaks and DJEntrification, this month will feature myself & DJ Melo as guest DJs + Nathaniel N. opening up the event with live electric music compositions. As always, the there will also be live art by the iconic Lalo Cota and a raffle with great prizes from contributing local businesses and artists.
This event is all ages, free, and the most fun you’ll have in Phoenix on a Sunday night. Focusing on great music and local culture, Civic Space Jam attracts a wide variety of people from all over the valley in a laid back and comfortable setting.
If you haven’t been out to the event yet, the festivities start at 4:00pm one Sunday a month at Civic Space Park in downtown Phoenix on Central Ave. just north of the Van Buren metro station. Since were on the subjects of parks as well, here’s my favorite jam featuring these beloved municipalities…

Flyer design by www.meanmugg.com
Bigie A.K.A. Meanmugg constantly impresses me with his design abilities. He’s oficially my “go-to” graphics guy and about 99% of the imagery you see from me, is actually his creation. On top of that, he does graphics for what seems like most all of the DJ/Promoters/Artists in Phoenix and it’s a rare weekend that you can go out and not see him or his work somewhere along the way.
Besides his skills with Photoshop though, he is also an eclectic and seasoned DJ. Along with being one of the new Electrostatic residents at Sanctum Nightclub every Tuesday night, Bigie will also be making a special appearance at Faux Show on Friday, March 6th.

Dubstep heavy-hitters, HavocNdeeD, released their newest mixtape last week, “Friendly Fire”. Just over an hour of bass for your face to get you fighting things/people! These guys are consistently killing everything they touch and only a week ago they sent me their HUGE remix of NWA’s Dopeman (download it here). These guys are doing BIG things with upcoming performance dates in New Zealand, Las Vegas, and San Francisco just to name a few. Go visit/follow HavocNdeeD on Twitter, Facebook & Myspace to stay in the loop with some incredibly talented and prolific artists.

I’ve been on this pretty big Latin kick lately with my music and remixes, so i thought i would post up this great compilation by DJ Orion from Austin, Texas. “Carajo Columbia” is a 13 track exercise in breaks, Baltimore, and broken beat with a cumbia backbone to keep the fiesta moving. You can get the entire album by going to Orion’s label, Raw Word Records, and subscribing to their email list (with an option to pay for the download as well). If you still aren’t satiated, you can cop some more free jams by going to the downloads page of Orion’s website, www.djorion.com… Dude is just giving the music away left and right!

Also, check out this picture of the man in action. DJing with a plastic gun on your hip is a smart move! When people come to the booth with shitty requests you can just flash it and they’ll get the point…
